  • Research Director, Discovery Research and Gene Editing
  • Research Associate Professor, Department of Medicine

“Discovery at the benchside and translating the discoveries to the bedside is the most exciting and rewarding experience I have at GTP.”

Lili Wang has a PhD in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics from Rutgers University. She has 20 years of research experience in the field of gene therapy, with expertise on gene therapy for genetic diseases and AAV-mediated hepatic gene transfer in small and large animal models. She led the preclinical development of AAV vectors that are currently being evaluated in two clinical trials.

More recently, she expanded her research interest to in vivo genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and other endonucleases as novel approaches to treat genetic diseases. Lili joined GTP in 1999. She is the author of more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is co-inventor on 5 patent applications.
